.*45 , <br /> COUNTY OF HAWAI`I i+f = i_•' STATE OF HAWAI`I <br /> RESOLUTION NO. 226 23 <br /> A RESOLUTION TRANSFERRING/APPROPRIATING AN APPROPRIATION OUT <br /> AND FROM A DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT AND CREDITING SAME TO A <br /> DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT TO PROVIDE A GRANT TO THE BIG ISLAND <br /> RESOURCE CONSERVATION AND DEVELOPMENT COUNCIL FOR EXPENSES <br /> RELATED TO THE 37TH ANNUAL BIG ISLAND PRO-AM SURFING TRIALS. <br /> WHEREAS, the Big Island Resource Conservation and Development Council <br /> (BIRCDC) is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization whose mission is to ensure broadened economic <br /> opportunities, enriched communities, and better lives for the people of Hawai`i Island and to <br /> achieve sustainable development while caring for and appreciating the natural environment; and <br /> WHEREAS, BIRCDC is the fiscal sponsor of the 37th Annual Big Island Pro-Am <br /> Surfing Trials, which is a community event that promotes surfing as an important international <br /> sport and supports our youth in an athletic competition dedicated to perpetuating the Hawaiian <br /> cultural tradition of surfing; and <br /> WHEREAS, the 37th Annual Big Island Pro-Am Surfing Trials will be held this August at <br /> Honoli`i Beach Park, and BIRCDC is requesting funds to assist with refreshments for volunteers <br /> and participants, miscellaneous event supplies, scoring equipment, and media/promotion for the <br /> event; and <br /> WHEREAS, the Department of Liquor Control supports safe, alcohol-free, and drug-free <br /> programs and events that enrich the lives of our youth and community members; and <br /> WHEREAS, pursuant to Section 2-139(a)(2)(A) of the Hawai`i County Code, <br /> Contingency Relief funds shall be transferred to an accepting County department/agency via <br /> resolution identifying the nonprofit organization and the specific program, project, event, activity, <br /> service, equipment, materials, or supplies for which the grant shall be used; now, therefore, <br /> BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE COUNTY OF HAWAII that <br /> Contingency Relief funds from Council District 3 will be appropriated to the Department of <br /> Liquor Control to provide a grant to BIRCDC for expenses related to the 37th Annual Big Island <br /> Pro-Am Surfing Trials at Honoli`i Beach Park. <br /> BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Council of the County of Hawai`i hereby <br /> transfers/appropriates the following amount as set forth below: <br />
