Re: Operating Budget
Enclosed is a resolution accepting a monetary donation of$5,000 from Alexander&
Baldwin LLC. This money will be used to purchase capacity-building equipment and
supplies to provide services island wide.
Also included is a bill for an ordinance amending the Operating Budget by appropriating
this $5,000 donation and an additional $5,000 for anticipated future donations to be
received in FY 2023-24.

A. REQUEST:
A resolution is requested authorizing the County (via Animal Control & Protection Agency) to accept a
donation from Alexander& Baldwin LLC, in the amount of$5,000.00 to provide the Animal Control &
Protection Agency funds to be used for capacity-building equipment and supplies in order to provide Animal
Control services across the island.
Also requesting a bill to appropriate $10,000 into the Animal Control & Protection Agency account for the
$5,000 donation and an additional $5,000 for aniticipated future donations in FY 2023-24
B. BACKGROUND AND JUSTIFICATION (USE ADDITIONAL SHEETS AS NEEDED):
The donated funds from Alexander & Baldwin LLC are to be used to purchase capacity building equipment,
and supplies as as needed to provide Animal Control Services across the Big Island.

OF A MONETARY DONATION OF $5,000 TO THE COUNTY OF HAWAII ANIMAL
CONTROL AND PROTECTION AGENCY.
Bill No, 65 • AN ORDINANCE TO AMEND ORDINANCE
NO. 23-50,AS AMENDED, THE OPERATING BUDGET FOR THE COUNTY OF HAWAI`I
FOR THE FISCAL YEAR ENDING JUNE 30,2024.
Pursuant to Section 2(g) of Rule 4 of the Rules of Procedure of the Council of the County of
Hawai`i, this written request is submitted with my approval that the above-referenced matter be
waived from the Committee on Finance to the full Council for immediate action. In reviewing
this matter, timely approval is crucial. It is therefore advantageous that approval is granted and
the matter be placed onto the next Council agenda for review. However, in the event this request
is denied, for whatever reason, I understand the matter shall be referred to the Committee on
Finance for placement on its future agenda.
