SUBJECT: District 3 Appointment to Youth Commission: La`akea Judd
Aloha!
I am pleased to submit La`akea Judd as the District 3 appointment to the County of Hawai`i
Youth Commission.
La`akea Judd is a graduate of Kea'au High School who went on to earn his associate's degree in
Liberal Arts from Hawai`i Community College in the summer of 2023 and is currently a
University of Hawai`i at Hilo (UH Hilo) student majoring in communications. His interests
include community engagement and youth empowerment, which will position La`akea as a
beneficial voice on our inaugural Youth Commission with a term ending February 6, 2024.
La`akea also serves as a dedicated Peer Mentor with UH Hilo's esteemed Ka Pouhana program,
fostering connections and offering valuable support to kama`aina students on campus. His
commitment to positive impact extends further, as seen in his role as a Target associate, where
his exceptional customer service skills and infectious smile reflect a vibrant and welcoming
demeanor. With a passion for community service, he demonstrated leadership by spearheading
the Kaukau 4 Keiki Distribution initiative, contributing to essential resources for over 200
families this summer through the efficient coordination of distributing 500 bags over six weeks.
La`akea's exceptional work ethic,unwavering dedication to Hawai`i Island communities, and
commitment to education and collaborative initiatives position him as a compelling advocate for
the Youth Commission.
