JtY of N, <br />COUNTY OF HAWAII STATE OF HAWAII <br />RESOLUTION NO. <br />A RESOLUTION TRANSFERRING/APPROPRIATING AN APPROPRIATION OUT <br />AND FROM A DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT AND CREDITING SAME TO A <br />DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT TO PROVIDE A GRANT TO FRIENDS OF FIRST <br />RESPONDERS FOR THE FAMILY FIRST COUPLES RETREAT FOR FIRST <br />RESPONDERS. <br />WHEREAS, Friends of First Responders is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization whose <br />mission is to promote the health and wellness of first responders and their families through <br />trainings, events, and programs; and <br />WHEREAS, Friends of First Responders creates programs where a need is identified and <br />collaborates with existing programs and organizations that align with its mission; and <br />WHEREAS, Friends of First Responders is hosting the Family First Couples Retreat for <br />First Responders, a two-day couples' retreat at the Waikoloa Beach Marriott Resort & Spa on <br />September 8-9, 2023; and <br />WHEREAS, the retreat will provide experts in their respective fields a space to address <br />specific challenges faced by first responders and their families; and <br />WHEREAS, Friends of First Responders is requesting funds to help defray the costs for <br />the guest speakers' travel expenses, hotel accommodations, and speaker fees; and <br />WHEREAS, one of the goals of the Hawaii Fire Department is to support the holistic <br />well-being of its employees to ensure that residents and visitors of Hawaii Island receive <br />exceptional, all -hazards emergency services; and <br />WHEREAS, pursuant to Section 2-139(a)(2)(A) of the Hawaii County Code, <br />Contingency Relief funds shall be transferred to an accepting County department/agency via <br />resolution identifying the nonprofit organization and the specific program, project, event, activity, <br />service, equipment, materials, or supplies for which the grant shall be used; now, therefore, <br />BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE COUNTY OF HAWAII that <br />Contingency Relief funds from Council District 4 will be appropriated to the Hawaii Fire <br />Department to provide a grant to Friends of First Responders for its Family First Couples Retreat <br />for First Responders. <br />BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Council of the County of flawai'i hereby <br />transfers/appropriates the following amount as set forth below: <br />
