A RESOLUTION TRANSFERRING/APPROPRIATING AN APPROPRIATION OUT AND FROM A DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT AND CREDITING SAME TO A DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT TO PROVIDE A GRANT TO FRIENDS OF FIRST RESPONDERS FOR THE FAMILY FIRST COUPLES RETREAT FOR FIRST RESPONDERS. WHEREAS, Friends of First Responders is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization whose mission is to promote the health and wellness of first responders and their families through trainings, events, and programs; and WHEREAS, Friends of First Responders creates programs where a need is identified and collaborates with existing programs and organizations that align with its mission; and WHEREAS, Friends of First Responders is hosting the Family First Couples Retreat for First Responders, a two-day couples' retreat at the Waikoloa Beach Marriott Resort & Spa on September 8-9, 2023; and WHEREAS, the retreat will provide experts in their respective fields a space to address specific challenges faced by first responders and their families; and WHEREAS, Friends of First Responders is requesting funds to help defray the costs for the guest speakers' travel expenses, hotel accommodations, and speaker fees; and WHEREAS, one of the goals of the Hawaii Fire Department is to support the holistic well-being of its employees to ensure that residents and visitors of Hawaii Island receive exceptional, all -hazards emergency services; and WHEREAS, pursuant to Section 2-139(a)(2)(A) of the Hawaii County Code, Contingency Relief funds shall be transferred to an accepting County department/agency via resolution identifying the nonprofit organization and the specific program, project, event, activity, service, equipment, materials, or supplies for which the grant shall be used; now, therefore, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE COUNTY OF HAWAII that Contingency Relief funds from Council District 4 will be appropriated to the Hawaii Fire Department to provide a grant to Friends of First Responders for its Family First Couples Retreat for First Responders. BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Council of the County of flawai'i hereby transfers/appropriates the following amount as set forth below: FUND: General AMOUNT OF APPROPRIATION: $8,500 OUT AND FROM: 010.101.5101.91 Clerk -Council SVC - Contingency Relief $8,500 CREDITED TO: 010.221.6221.02 Hawaii Fire Department $8,500 Fire Operations OCE 115 Misc. Contract Services (Friends of First Responders - Family First Couples Retreat for First Responders) BE IT FINALLY RESOLVED that the County Clerk shall transmit a copy of this resolution to the Fire Chief and Director of Finance, and that the Director of Finance is hereby authorized to make the necessary transfers in accordance with the terms of this resolution.
