I am in SUPPORT of Resolution No. 216-23.
Early Childhood Education provides the foundation our keiki need to build the future on.This is a direct
investment into our keiki that benefits our entire community. More than 85% of brain development occurs
from birth to age five. Preschool provides our keiki with opportunities to develop social, emotional, cognitive,
and physical skills. Preschool prepares our keiki for kindergarten and beyond.
The County Council's generous support of the Eatly Learning`Ghana Festival allows our community to do what's
never been done before! This is an opportunity to gather early learning providers and resource agencies in
West Hawai'i to; educate our community on their program(s), increase keiki enrollment into their programs,
recruit staff for workforce development, networking opportunities, and most importantly, a day to bring ohana
together.
It truly takes a village to raise keiki, and I am fortunate to have the Hawai'i County Council a part of it.
