Greetings to Chair Kimball and to all of the Members of Hawaii County Council: As an early childhood educator, I am writing in SUPPORT of Resolution No. 216-23. Early Learning/Early Childhood Education PROVIDES: • Young children with a strong foundation for their future learning and development. • Immediate and long-term benefits for keiki. • Immediate and long-term benefits for our communities as a whole. • More than 85% of brain development occurs from birth to age 5, preschool provides children with opportunities to develop social, emotional, cognitive, and physical skills. • Prepare children to be school ready for kindergarten, which has long-lasting impact on their future education and development. The Early Learning `Ghana Festival is a collaboration of various community and early learning organizations across Hawai'i Island in celebration of families and the early learning professionals who care for our youngest keiki. Your generous support of the Early Learning `Ghana Festival will allow families to explore and connect with early learning resources available in their community. Early learning professionals will have the opportunity to showcase their programs, recruit for keiki enrollment and workforce development, and network with other early learning professionals.
