Regarding Bill 063, 9: L15
`Article _ Maintenance of Privy f5, i'It i al
Nondedicated,
and Non-surrendered Roads
We propose that the County Council Members ordain the amendment,
Chapter 14 of the Hawai'i' County Code 1983,
in the public interest, this action would -w iow the families that live on
Anuhea Circle and Alanui /`I'iwi Road in Volcano Village, Hawaii to request
assistance in maintaining the roads for public, transportation in the future.
In the past, these roads were maintained by Hawai'i' County. Presently,
they are not. We are requesting to have them reinstated because the
deterioration of the roads have become a •:-,172.fety issue. Presently, there are
63 homes on the 1 .3 mile stretch of road.
In the past, this area was used for part-time summer homes. For various
reasons, such as affordable housing, cool weather and GCVO "escapees",
there has been an increase of full-time residents. Like many of the paved
roads, they are used by the residents, their guests, emergency vehicles,
water and gas trucks, UPS, Air B and B u;9 riesses, and contractors. All of
J.V.
these vehicles take a toll on the roads. in conclusion, maintenance is
needed and Bill 063 is one step c oser to Oiving the problem.
