REPORT OF THE <br />LEGISLATIVE APPROVALS AND ACQUISITIONS COMMITTEE <br />DATE: September 5, 2023 <br />PLACE: Council Chambers <br />Hilo, Hawaii <br />TIME: 10:00 a.m. <br />Council Chair and Members <br />Hawaii County Council <br />Hilo, Hawaii 96720 <br />Re: Comm. No. 419/Res. No. 237-23 <br />Your Committee on Legislative Approvals and Acquisitions, to which was referred Resolution <br />No. 237-23, reports as follows: <br />Resolution No. 237-23, transmitted by Finance Director Deanna S. Sako, via Communication <br />No. 419, dated August 16, 2023, authorizes the Director of Finance to negotiate a multi-year lease <br />of real property, a portion of the Lily Yoshimatsu Senior Center, situated at Waimea, District of <br />South Kohala, County and State of Hawaii, identified as Tax Map Key: 6-7-002:025, to the <br />Waimea Arts Council. <br />This resolution allows for the Waimea Arts Council to lease a portion of the premises to be used for <br />art education, art shows, art sales, fundraisers, and administrative purposes. <br />Business Manager Reid Sewake from the Department Parks and Recreation was available in <br />chambers and explained that the previous multi-year lease had expired, and they are currently <br />leasing this space on a month-to-month basis.
