• <br /> COUNTY OF HAWAI`I •_ =" STATE OF HAWAII <br /> RESOLUTION NO. 244 23 <br /> A RESOLUTION TRANSFERRING/APPROPRIATING AN APPROPRIATION OUT <br /> AND FROM A DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT AND CREDITING SAME TO A <br /> DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT TO PROVIDE A GRANT TO HULIAUAPA`A FOR <br /> THE REVITALIZATION OF THE WAHI KUPUNA KAHALU`U FIELD SYSTEM. <br /> WHEREA, Huliauapa'a is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization founded in 2012, whose <br /> purpose is to educate and empower students and communities on the stewardship of kupuna <br /> through collaboration with various community groups, educational institutions, landowners, and <br /> archaeological firms to provide education, training, and assistance in the preservation, <br /> stewardship, and management of cultural and historical sites throughout Hawai`i; and <br /> WHEREAS, Kahalu`u Kuahewa is a community-based organization whose vision aims <br /> for the revitalization of the wahi kupuna Kahalu`u Field System as a traditional Hawaiian <br /> agriculture landscape, and reconnecting kanaka to `aina; and <br /> WHEREAS, through indigenous grassroots iniatives and sustainable restorative <br /> agricultural practices, Huliauapa'a and Kahalu`u Kuahewa will work in partnership to reinforce <br /> the wahi kupuna and kanaka to `aina reconnections; and <br /> WHEREAS, Huliauapa'a is requesting funds for agricultural maintenance equipment, <br /> irrigation supplies, and community outreach material; and <br /> WHEREAS, the Department of Liquor Control supports organizations and programs that <br /> promote the health, safety, and welfare of communities in a drug-free and alcohol-free <br /> environment; and <br /> WHEREAS,pursuant to Section 2-139(a)(2)(A) of the Hawai`i County Code, <br /> Contingency Relief funds shall be transferred to an accepting County department/agency via <br /> resolution identifying the nonprofit organization and the specific program, project, event, <br /> activity, service, equipment, materials, or supplies for which the grant shall be used; now, <br /> therefore, <br /> BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE COUNTY OF HAWAI`I that <br /> Contingency Relief funds from Council District 7 will be appropriated to the Department of <br /> Liquor Control to provide a grant to Huliauapa'a for the revitalization of the wahi kupuna <br /> Kahalu`u Field System. <br /> BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Council of the County of Hawai`i hereby <br /> transfers/appropriates the following amount as set forth below: <br />
