RESOLUTION NO. 249 23
A RESOLUTION TRANSFERRING/APPROPRIATING AN APPROPRIATION OUT
AND FROM A DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT AND CREDITING SAME TO A
DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT TO ASSIST THE POLICE DEPARTMENT WITH
EXPENSES RELATING TO THE 67TH ANNUAL HAWAI`I STATE LAW
ENFORCEMENT OFFICIALS ASSOCIATION CONFERENCE.
WHEREAS, the annual Hawai`i State Law Enforcement Officials Association
(HSLEOA) Conference is recognized as Hawai`i's premier law enforcement symposium that has
led the way in uniting law enforcement agencies to successfully meet the many challenges that
they face; and
WHEREAS, the 67th Annual HSLEOA Conference will be hosted by the Hawai`i County
Police Department at the Waikoloa Beach Marriott Resort& Spa on September 27-29, 2023, and
the theme will be "Challenges Facing Modern Policing"; and
WHEREAS, one of the highlights of this year's conference will be the recognition of the
HSLEOA Officers of the Year that will honor county, state, federal, and military law
enforcement officers for their exceptional service, which will also include officers from the
previous three years who were not formally recognized due to the cancellation of HSLEOA
Conferences during the COVID pandemic; and
WHEREAS,the Police Department is requesting funds to cover audio and visual
expenses and program printing for the 67th Annual HSLEOA Conference; now,therefore,
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE COUNTY OF HAWAI`I that
Contingency Relief funds from Council District 1 will be appropriated to the Police Department
to assist with expenses relating to the 67th Annual HSLEOA Conference to be held on
September 27-29, 2023.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Council of the County of Hawai`i hereby
transfers/appropriates the following amount as set forth below:

BE IT FINALLY RESOLVED that the County Clerk shall transmit a copy of this
resolution to the Chief of Police and Director of Finance, and that the Director of Finance is
hereby authorized to make the necessary transfers in accordance with the terms of this resolution.
