COUNTY OF HAWAII • �',' '� •` STATE OF HAWAI`I <br /> RESOLUTION NO. 252 23 <br /> A RESOLUTION TRANSFERRING/APPROPRIATING AN APPROPRIATION OUT <br /> AND FROM A DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT AND CREDITING SAME TO A <br /> DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT TO ASSIST THE POLICE DEPARTMENT WITH <br /> EXPENSES RELATING TO THE 67TH ANNUAL HAWAI`I STATE LAW <br /> ENFORCEMENT OFFICIALS ASSOCIATION CONFERENCE. <br /> WHEREAS, the annual Hawai`i State Law Enforcement Officials Association <br /> (HSLEOA) Conference is recognized as Hawai`i's premier law enforcement symposium that has <br /> led the way in uniting law enforcement agencies to successfully meet the many challenges that <br /> they face; and <br /> WHEREAS, the 67th Annual HSLEOA Conference will be held at the Waikoloa Beach <br /> Marriott Resort& Spa on September 27-29, 2023, and the theme will be "Challenges Facing <br /> Modern Policing" focusing on the diverse challenges facing officers, such as de-escalation in <br /> stressful situations, greater transparency resulting from new technologies, and social media; and <br /> WHEREAS,previous conferences were cancelled due to the COVID pandemic, so this <br /> year's conference will recognize the HSLEOA Officers of the Year from 2020 to 2023 to honor <br /> these law enforcement officers for their exceptional service to the community; and <br /> WHEREAS, the Police Department is requesting funds to assist with expenses for <br /> audio/visual, conference materials, and/or supplies for the 67th Annual HSLEOA Conference; <br /> now, therefore, <br /> BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE COUNTY OF HAWAI`I that <br /> Contingency Relief funds from Council District 7 will be appropriated to the Police Department <br /> to assist with expenses relating to the 67th Annual HSLEOA Conference to be held on <br /> September 27-29, 2023. <br /> BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Council of the County of Hawai`i hereby <br /> transfers/appropriates the following amount as set forth below: <br />
