A RESOLUTION TRANSFERRING/APPROPRIATING AN APPROPRIATION OUT AND FROM A DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT AND CREDITING SAME TO A DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT TO PROVIDE A GRANT TO THE BIG ISLAND RESOURCE
CONSERVATION AND DEVELOPMENT COUNCIL TO ASSIST WITH EXPENSES RELATED TO THE 2023 HAWAI‘I ISLAND VETERANS DAY PARADE.
WHEREAS, the Big Island Resource Conservation and Development Council (BIRCDC) is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization that supports the economic, cultural, and natural environment of
Hawai‘i Island through sponsorship of festivals, programs, and special events unique to this island; and
WHEREAS, BIRCDC is working in partnership with the Hawai‘i Island Veterans Day Parade Committee to honor all veterans in Hawai‘i County by assisting with the coordination of the 2023
Hawai‘i Island Veterans Day Parade, which will be held in Hilo on November 4, 2023; and
WHEREAS, BIRCDC is requesting funding assistance to help cover the necessary expenses to conduct the parade including, but not limited to, special-duty police officers, insurance, advertising,
and permits; and
WHEREAS, the Office of the Prosecuting Attorney supports this event as it is in keeping with the goals and objectives of the department to support safe and healthy community activities;
and
WHEREAS, pursuant to Section 2-139(a)(2)(A) of the Hawai‘i County Code, Contingency Relief funds shall be transferred to an accepting County department/agency via resolution identifying
the nonprofit organization and the specific program, project, event, activity, service, equipment, materials, or supplies for which the grant shall be used; now, therefore,
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE COUNTY OF HAWAI‘I that Contingency Relief funds from Council District 2 will be appropriated to the Office of the Prosecuting Attorney to provide
a grant to the Big Island Resource Conservation and Development Council to assist with expenses related to the 2023 Hawai‘i Island Veterans Day Parade.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Council of the County of Hawai‘i hereby transfers/appropriates the following amount as set forth below:
