A RESOLUTION TRANSFERRING/APPROPRIATING AN APPROPRIATION OUT AND FROM A DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT AND CREDITING SAME TO A DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT FOR THE PILIKULĀIWI FALL INTERSESSION
PROGRAM.
WHEREAS, the Department of Parks and Recreation, Recreation Division, provides diversified recreational programs and activities for all age groups that address the needs and interests
of the respective communities in a safe environment at County recreational facilities; and
WHEREAS, the Recreation Division conducts various programs throughout the year, including its Fall Intersession Program called “Pilikulāiwi”, which means building a relationship with
my homeland; and
WHEREAS, Pilikulāiwi is a three-day, two-night session to be held in October in Pa‘auilo for students in sixth to twelfth grade; and
WHEREAS, Hui Mālama I Ke Ali‘i ‘Ulili is a community-based nonprofit organization whose mission is to re-establish the systems that sustain our community through place-based educational
initiatives and ‘āina-centered practices that cultivate abundance, regenerate responsibilities, and promote collective heath and well-being; and
WHEREAS, Hui Mālama I Ke Ali‘i ‘Ulili will contribute to Pilikulāiwi by providing ‘āina based education and service-learning experiences involving mālama ‘āina, and sustainable food
practices; and
WHEREAS, the Department of Parks and Recreation is requesting funds for intersession shirts, food, and drinks, and other related costs to conduct its Pilikulāiwi Fall Intersession program;
now, therefore,
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE COUNTY OF HAWAI‘I that Contingency Relief funds from Council District 1 will be appropriated to the Department of Parks and Recreation for its Pilikulāiwi
Fall Intersession program at Pa‘auilo.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Council of the County of Hawai‘i hereby transfers/appropriates the following amount as set forth below:

is hereby authorized to make the necessary transfers in accordance with the terms of this resolution.
