BACKGROUND AND JUSTIFICATION (USE ADDITIONAL SHEETS AS NEEDED): The Hawaii Police Department recently began a partnership in early 2023 with Vibrant Hawaii, a nonprofit organization, with the goal of promoting community resiliency. In June 2023, over 60 individuals, including HPD participated in the Vibrant Hawaii Resilience Hub Summit. During discussions with Vibrant Hawaii it was determined the donation of Tommy Lift Gates fit into Vibrant Hawaii's goals and objectives by assisting HPD in better serving the community. Through the acceptance of this donation, HPD will be able to better serve the community in providing service delivery during major disasters and events that frequently take place on the Big Island. It would greatly assist in the delivery of heavier, emergency equipment and supplies to remote areas. It not only provides a means by which the improvement for public service can take place in the form of equipment improvement, continuation of the partnership supports the department's objective as it relates to our Mission statement. The total dollar amount of the donation is $14,439.78.
