Dear Chairman Arakaki and Council Hembers:
In accordance with requirements of Chapter 2, Article RIII, Section 13-12 of
the Hawaii County Charter, we request Council's approval for acceptance of a
monetary donation from John W. Roy.
The monetary donation is valued at One thousand dollars (51,000.00).
The monies will be used for the Hawaii Police Department HIPAL Program.
Your approval in this matter is appreciated.

SUBJECT DONA
This memorandum is submitted to inform you of a donation to
the HI-PAL Program from John W. Roy. The Honorable Joseph
Florendo Jr. of the District Court of the Third Circuit in
west Hawaii ordered the donation as a special condition to
Ro}''s sentence. Attached are the check and the letter from
District Court.
Request that the check be routed to Nori in finance so she
can prepare a resolution to the County Council for acceptance
of the donation. Nori has been made aware of and will be
expecting the check.
We also request that this donation be placed in HZ-PAL Acct.
No. 5215.62 115, Miscellaneous Contract Services, to be used
to pay game officials.

On March 29, 1999, the above-named Defendant was sentenced before
the Honorable Joseph P. Florendo, Jr. in the District Court of the
Third Circuit, Kona Division, on the above-noted offense. As a
special condition of his sentence, he was ordered to pay a special
contribution of $1000 to the Hawaii County Police Activity League.
