1 <br /> COUNTY OF HAWAII <• ��t" • STATE OF HAWAI`I <br /> '.•fJ•: .rrow:P�� <br /> 7rJ OF.HF''!1 <br /> RESOLUTION NO. 265 23 <br /> A RESOLUTION TRANSFERRING/APPROPRIATING AN APPROPRIATION OUT <br /> AND FROM A DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT AND CREDITING SAME TO A <br /> DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT TO PROVIDE A GRANT TO KEAUKAHA ONE <br /> YOUTH DEVELOPMENT TO ASSIST WITH EXPENSES RELATED TO ITS <br /> ROBOTICS PROGRAM. <br /> WHEREAS, Keaukaha One Youth Development (KOYD) is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit <br /> organization whose mission is to help underprivileged Native Hawaiian youth to reveal their <br /> individual strengths and passions to build leadership skills, self-esteem, motivation, and positive <br /> relationships for future career and academic success; and <br /> WHEREAS, KOYD has established a collaboration with Keaukaha Elementary School <br /> and Kama`aina Kids (A+Program) to provide an after-school robotics program to over 130 <br /> elementary students, which will consist of mentors and volunteers providing weekly instructional <br /> sessions using VEX IQ robotics kits; and <br /> WHEREAS,the KOYD robotics program is designed to provide opportunities for <br /> innovation, design, and future interest in science, technology, engineering, and math (STEM) <br /> careers; and <br /> WHEREAS, KOYD is requesting funds to purchase three VEX IQ robotics kits for its <br /> robotics program at Keaukaha Elementary School; and <br /> WHEREAS, the Department of Liquor Control supports organizations that promote <br /> educational programs and activities for youth in a drug-free and alcohol-free environment; and <br /> WHEREAS, pursuant to Section 2-139(a)(2)(A) of the Hawai`i County Code, <br /> Contingency Relief funds shall be transferred to an accepting County department/agency via <br /> resolution identifying the nonprofit organization and the specific program, project, event, <br /> activity, service, equipment, materials, or supplies for which the grant shall be used; now, <br /> therefore, <br /> BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE COUNTY OF HAWAI`I that <br /> Contingency Relief funds from Council District 3 will be appropriated to the Department of <br /> Liquor Control to provide a grant to KOYD to support its robotics program. <br /> BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Council of the County of Hawai`i hereby <br /> transfers/appropriates the following amount as set forth below: <br />
