A RESOLUTION TRANSFERRING/APPROPRIATING AN APPROPRIATION OUT AND FROM A DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT AND CREDITING SAME TO A DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT TO PROVIDE A GRANT TO THE FRIENDS OF THE
PANAʻEWA ZOO TO PURCHASE KEIKI CUDDLE CARTS FOR USE AT THE PANA‘EWA RAINFOREST ZOO AND GARDENS.
WHEREAS, the Friends of the Panaʻewa Zoo (FOPZ) is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization whose mission is to promote the Panaʻewa Rainforest Zoo and Gardens, educate visitors, provide for
special animal needs, enhance the lives of the resident animals, nurture the rainforest environment of the zoo, and encorage compassion towards animals; and
WHEREAS, the FOPZ operates the gift shop that provides the keiki cuddle carts that help parents transport young children throughout the zoo; and
WHEREAS, the FOPZ has requested funds to purchase five (5) new keiki cuddle carts to replace those are unrepairable and/or deteriorating in condition; and
WHEREAS, the Department of Parks and Recreation provides and facilitates a wide variety of services to meet the needs of the community while maintaining the cultural uniqueness of our
rich heritage, diversity, and the aloha spirit; and
WHEREAS, pursuant to Section 2-139(a)(2)(A) of the Hawai‘i County Code, Contingency Relief funds shall be transferred to an accepting County department/agency via resolution identifying
the nonprofit organization and the specific program, project, event, activity, service, equipment, materials, or supplies for which the grant shall be used; now, therefore,
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE COUNTY OF HAWAI‘I that Contingency Relief funds from Council District 3 will be appropriated to the Department of Parks and Recreation to provide
a grant to the FOPZ to assist with purchasing five (5) new keiki cuddle carts.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Council of the County of Hawai‘i hereby transfers/appropriates the following amount as set forth below:

is hereby authorized to make the necessary transfers in accordance with the terms of this resolution.
