JNtY of N;' <br /> COUNTY OF HAWAI`I -•� �:' STATE OF HAWAII <br /> ,TEOF NF'�' <br /> RESOLUTION NO. 273 23 <br /> A RESOLUTION TRANSFERRING/APPROPRIATING AN APPROPRIATION OUT <br /> AND FROM A DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT AND CREDITING THE SAME TO A <br /> DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT TO PROVIDE A GRANT TO THE KAMUELA <br /> PHILHARMONIC ORCHESTRA SOCIETY TO ASSIST WITH EXPENSES <br /> RELATING TO ITS MUSIC APPRECIATION CONCERT. <br /> WHEREAS, the Kamuela Philharmonic Orchestra Society's Music Appreciation <br /> Concert provides young elementary students with an opportunity for direct, first-hand exposure <br /> to live performance of musical arts; and <br /> WHEREAS, the most recent concert program, held this past January, witnessed a full <br /> house audience of approximately 900 students; and <br /> WHEREAS, at its upcoming concert, scheduled for January 2024 at the Kahilu Theater in <br /> Waimea,the Kamuela Philharmonic Orchestra Society will perform live for students from Kohala <br /> Elementary School, Waimea Elementary School, and Honoka`a Elementary School; and <br /> WHEREAS, the Kamuela Philharmonic Orchestra Society is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit <br /> organization committed to providing music education opportunities and fostering a love of music <br /> for public school youth across Hawai`i County; and <br /> WHEREAS, the Kamuela Philharmonic Orchestra Society is requesting funding <br /> assistance to help cover necessary expenses relating to the concert including, but not limited to, <br /> venue fees and student transportation costs; and <br /> WHEREAS, the Department of Liquor Control supports this project as it is in keeping <br /> with the goals and objectives of the department to support public programs that foster safe, drug- <br /> and alcohol-free environments and activities for Hawai`i County residents, especially youth; and <br /> WHEREAS,pursuant to Section 2-139(a)(2)(A) of the Hawaii County Code, <br /> Contingency Relief funds shall be transferred to an accepting County department/agency via <br /> resolution identifying the nonprofit organization and the specific program, project, event, activity, <br /> service, equipment, materials, or supplies for which the grant shall be used; now, therefore, <br /> BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE COUNTY OF HAWAI`I that <br /> Contingency Relief funds from Council District 9 will be appropriated to the Department of <br /> Liquor Control to provide a grant to the Kamuela Philharmonic Orchestra Society to assist with <br /> expenses related to its Music Appreciation Concert. <br />
