60,112.F.. .i COUNTY OF HAWAII • 6=.` • STATE OF HAWAI`I .0;0- RESOLUTION NO. 27? 23 A RESOLUTION TRANSFERRING/APPROPRIATING AN APPROPRIATION OUT AND FROM A DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT AND CREDITING SAME TO A DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT TO PROVIDE A GRANT TO THE WEST HAWAI`I VETERANS CEMETERY DEVELOPMENT AND EXPANSION ASSOCIATION TO CONSTRUCT A WORLD WAR II MEMORIAL. WHEREAS,the West Hawai`i Veterans Cemetery Development and Expansion Association (WHVCDEA) is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization consisting of veteran organizations, individual veterans, and citizens that have organized and facilitated innumerable projects at the West Hawai`i Veterans Cemetery-Pu`u Ho`omaha 0 Na Po`e Koa 0 Hawai`i Komohana(WHVC) in honor of our veterans; and WHEREAS, WHVC is one of three state-owned veterans' cemeteries in the nation that has received the honor of a"Shrine Status" designation by the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs; and WHEREAS, WHVCDEA will be constructing a World War II Memorial at WHVC to pay tribute, with honor and respect, to World War II veterans and their families; and WHEREAS, the Hawai`i State Office of Veterans' Services and the Hawai`i State Department of Defense have approved plans for the construction of a World War II Memorial at WHVC; and WHEREAS, WHVCDEA has requested funds to assist with costs associated with the design and construction of a World War II Memorial at WHVC; and WHEREAS, the Department of Parks and Recreation works in partnership with WHVCDEA and is supportive of its efforts to maintain and improve WHVC; and WHEREAS,pursuant to Section 2-139(a)(2)(A) of the Hawai`i County Code, Contingency Relief funds shall be transferred to an accepting County department/agency via resolution identifying the nonprofit organization and the specific program, project, event, activity, service, equipment, materials, or supplies for which the grant shall be used; now, therefore, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE COUNTY OF HAWAI`I that Contingency Relief funds from Council District 8 will be appropriated to the Department of Parks and Recreation to provide a grant to WHVCDEA to construct a World War II Memorial at WHVC.
