A RESOLUTION TRANSFERRING/APPROPRIATING AN APPROPRIATION OUT AND FROM A DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT AND CREDITING SAME TO A DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT TO PROVIDE A GRANT TO THE PĀHOA LAVA ZONE
MUSEUM TO SUPPORT PLACEMAKING INITIATIVES IN PĀHOA VILLAGE.
WHEREAS, the Pāhoa Lava Zone Museum, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization, displays cultural art and volcanic exhibits and artifacts that highlight the unique geological features of lower
Puna, attracting visitors and residents who are contributing to the revitalization of downtown Pāhoa and the surrounding community; and
WHEREAS, placemaking is a multi-faceted approach to creating quality places where people want to live, work, play, and learn by inspiring and promoting social interaction and cultural
exchange; and
WHEREAS, the Pāhoa Lava Zone Museum supports placemaking initiatives that will bring community together, such as the annual Christmas parade, the Paint Pāhoa Town project, and the Pāhoa
Public Safety Partnership crime prevention summits; and
WHEREAS, the Pāhoa Lava Zone Museum is requesting funds to cover necessary expenses relating to placemaking initiatives in Pāhoa Village including, but not limited to, event coordination
and administration, equipment rental, artist fees, and meals for participants of the Pāhoa Public Safety Partnership summits; and
WHEREAS, the Department of Liquor Control supports drug-free and alcohol-free events that enrich the lives of community members; and
WHEREAS, pursuant to Section 2-139(a)(2)(A) of the Hawai‘i County Code, Contingency Relief funds shall be transferred to an accepting County department/agency via resolution identifying
the nonprofit organization and the specific program, project, event, activity, service, equipment, materials, or supplies for which the grant shall be used; now, therefore,
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE COUNTY OF HAWAI‘I that Contingency Relief funds from Council District 4 will be appropriated to the Department of Liquor Control to provide a grant
to the Pāhoa Lava Zone Museum to support placemaking initiatives in Pāhoa Village.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Council of the County of Hawai‘i hereby transfers/appropriates the following amount as set forth below:

authorized to make the necessary transfers in accordance with the terms of this resolution.
