Re: Operating Budget •
In the current Budget Ordinance 23-50, $124,000 is appropriated in the Police
Department's Occupant Protection Program account. Additional federally derived funds in
the amount of$37,959 are being provided by the State of Hawai`i Department of
Transportation and the Community Highway Safety Program to fund operations focused
on occupant protection projects.
Enclosed is a bill for an ordinance amending the Operating Budget by appropriating these
additional funds into the Hawai`i County Police's Occupant Protection Program account,
bringing the total appropriation to $161,959.

A. REQUEST:
This is a request to appropriate an additional $37,959.00 for the Occupant Protection Program Grant under
account number 010.201.5219.76 and revenue account 3302.56. This grant is funded by the State of
Hawaii, the Department of Transportation, and the Community Highway Safety Program.
