Re: Operating Budget
In the current Budget Ordinance 23-50, $425,000 is appropriated in the Police
Department's HCPD Roadblock Program account. Additional federally derived funds in
the amount of$97,970.95 are being provided by the State of Hawai`i Department of
Transportation and the National Priority Safety Program to fund operations focused on
reducing the number of drivers operating a vehicle while impaired.
Enclosed is a bill for an ordinance amending the Operating Budget by appropriating these
additional funds into the Hawai`i County Police's HCPD Roadblock Program account,
bringing the total appropriation to $522,970.95.

A. REQUEST:
This is a request to appropriate an additional $97,970.95 for the Hawai'i Police Department Impaired Driving
Grant under account number 010.201.5216.15 and revenue account 3303.42. This grant is funded from the
Minimum Penalities for Repeat Offenders for Driving While Intoxicated Program and the National Priority
Safety Program.

The State of Hawaii, Department of Transportation provides funding that will be used to fund operations
focused on reducing the number of drivers operating a vehicle while impaired.
