Re: Operating Budget
•
In the current Budget Ordinance 23-50, $574,234 is appropriated in the HCPD 2023
STEP Grant account. Additional federally derived funds in the amount of$280 are being
provided by the State of Hawai`i, Department of Transportation and the National Priority
Safety Program for training, education, enforcement, and community collaboration to
reduce the number of traffic fatalities and injuries.
Enclosed is a bill for an ordinance amending the Operating Budget by appropriating these
additional funds into the Police Department's HCPD 2023 STEP Grant account, bringing
the total appropriation to $574,514. •

A. REQUEST:
This is a request to appropriate an additional $280.00 for the HCPD STEP Grant under account number
010.201.5216.75 and revenue account 3310.45. This grant is funded by the State of Hawaii, Department of
Transportation, and the National Priority Safety Program.
B. BACKGROUND AND JUSTIFICATION (USE ADDITIONAL SHEETS AS NEEDED):
The State of Hawaii, Department of Transportation provides funding that will be used for training, education,
enforcement, and community collaboration to reduce the number of traffic fatalities and injury crashes.
