Re: Comm. No. 443/Res. No. 253-23
Your Committee on Finance, to which was referred Resolution No. 253-23, reports as follows:
Resolution No. 253-23, transmitted by Finance Director Deanna S. Sako, via Communication No. 443
dated August 31, 2023, changes time element of a half-time Assistant County Physician to full-time.
This resolution requests adjustments to full-time to address an increase in employee examinations
in West Hawaii.
Committee Member Holeka Goro Inaba asked Finance Director Deanna Sako to provide more
information on this measure.
Committee Member Cindy Evans asked Ms. Sako to clarify if this Physician was strictly for
County employee use, to which Ms. Sako confirmed.
Committee Member Rebecca Villegas provided more background on this measure and how this
impacts County employees. Ms. Villegas provided comments of support and thanked the
administration for putting this forward.
Your Committee on Finance is in accord with the purpose and intent of Resolution No. 253-23, and
recommends its adoption.
