o+t�r�F• `•'?!y <br />COUNTY OF HAWAII _• STATE OF HAWAII <br />TE'OFMP <br />RESOLUTION NO. 293 23 <br />A RESOLUTION TRANSFERRING/APPROPRIATING AN APPROPRIATION OUT <br />AND FROM A DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT AND CREDITING SAME TO A <br />DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT TO PROVIDE A GRANT TO FRIENDS OF THE <br />FUTURE TO ASSIST WITH EXPENSES RELATED TO THE CELEBRATE `GHANA <br />FESTIVAL IN WEST HAWAII. <br />WHEREAS, Friends of the Future (FOF) is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization that <br />strives to create connections among Hawaii Island's diverse people so they can openly <br />contribute their deepest values, create shared visions, and continuously improve their <br />communities; and <br />WHEREAS, the Puakalehua Early Learning Consortium is an organization dedicated to <br />the advancement in all areas of early learning in North & West Hawaii; and <br />WHEREAS, this year, FOF will partner with Puakalehua Early Learning Consortium to <br />coordinate the "Celebrate `Ghana Festival" at the Old Kona Airport on December 9, 2023, which <br />will celebrate the importance of setting a good foundation of early learning for every child; and <br />WHEREAS, FOF is requesting finds to assist with expenses such as supplies, <br />equipment, snacks, drinks, and other expenses related to conducting the event; and <br />WHEREAS, the Department of Liquor Control supports youth programs that promote <br />educational activities in an alcohol-, tobacco-, and drug-free environment; and <br />WHEREAS, pursuant to Section 2-139(a)(2)(A) of the Hawaii County Code, <br />Contingency Relief funds shall be transferred to an accepting County department/agency via <br />resolution identifying the nonprofit organization and the specific program, project, event, <br />activity, service, equipment, materials, or supplies for which the grant shall be used; now, <br />therefore, <br />BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE COUNTY OF HAWAII that <br />Contingency Relief funds from Council District 7 will be appropriated to the Department of <br />Liquor Control to provide a grant to Friends of the Future for expenses related to the Celebrate <br />`Ghana Festival in West Hawaii. <br />BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Council of the County of Hawaii hereby <br />transfers/appropriates the following amount as set forth below: <br />
