A RESOLUTION TRANSFERRING/APPROPRIATING AN APPROPRIATION OUT AND FROM A DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT AND CREDITING SAME TO A DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT TO PROVIDE A GRANT TO FRIENDS OF THE FUTURE
TO ASSIST WITH EXPENSES RELATED TO THE CELEBRATE ‘OHANA FESTIVAL IN WEST HAWAI‘I.
WHEREAS, Friends of the Future (FOF) is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization that strives to create connections among Hawaiʻi Island’s diverse people so they can openly contribute their
deepest values, create shared visions, and continuously improve their communities; and
WHEREAS, the Puakalehua Early Learning Consortium is an organization dedicated to the advancement in all areas of early learning in North & West Hawai‘i; and
WHEREAS, this year, FOF will partner with Puakalehua Early Learning Consortium to coordinate the “Celebrate ‘Ohana Festival” at the Old Kona Airport on December 9, 2023, which will celebrate
the importance of setting a good foundation of early learning for every child; and
WHEREAS, FOF is requesting funds to assist with expenses such as supplies, equipment, snacks, drinks, and other expenses related to conducting the event; and
WHEREAS, the Department of Liquor Control supports youth programs that promote educational activities in an alcohol-, tobacco-, and drug-free environment; and
WHEREAS, pursuant to Section 2-139(a)(2)(A) of the Hawai‘i County Code, Contingency Relief funds shall be transferred to an accepting County department/agency via resolution identifying
the nonprofit organization and the specific program, project, event, activity, service, equipment, materials, or supplies for which the grant shall be used; now, therefore,
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE COUNTY OF HAWAI‘I that Contingency Relief funds from Council District 7 will be appropriated to the Department of Liquor Control to provide a grant
to Friends of the Future for expenses related to the Celebrate ‘Ohana Festival in West Hawai‘i.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Council of the County of Hawai‘i hereby transfers/appropriates the following amount as set forth below:

authorized to make the necessary transfers in accordance with the terms of this resolution.
