HomeMy WebLinkAboutRES 301 Draft 01 2022-2024 A RESOLUTION TRANSFERRING/APPROPRIATING AN APPROPRIATION OUT AND FROM A DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT AND CREDITING SAME TO A DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT TO PROVIDE A GRANT TO YWCA OF HAWAI‘I ISLAND FOR ITS 14TH ANNUAL WALK A MILE IN HER SHOES EVENT. WHEREAS, YWCA of Hawai‘i Island is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization that is dedicated to eliminating racism, empowering women, and promoting peace, justice, freedom, and dignity for all; and WHEREAS, last year, YWCA of Hawai‘i Island responded to 1,597 crisis and support calls on its 24-hour Sexual Assault Crisis Hotline; and WHEREAS, YWCA of Hawai‘i Island organizes an annual walk to raise awareness and support for those who are survivors of rape, sexual assault, and gender violence; and WHEREAS, YWCA of Hawai‘i Island’s 14th Annual Walk a Mile in Her Shoes event will be held on October 28, 2023, through downtown Hilo; and WHEREAS, YWCA of Hawai‘i Island is requesting funds for expenses including, but not limited to, refreshments for the walkers and volunteers, footwear for the walkers to borrow, and shoe cleaning supplies; and WHEREAS, the Office of the Prosecuting Attorney supports domestic and family violence prevention and intervention initiatives by collaborating with other governmental and private agencies to provide education and awareness about sexual assault; and WHEREAS, pursuant to Section 2-139(a)(2)(A) of the Hawai‘i County Code, Contingency Relief funds shall be transferred to an accepting County department/agency via resolution identifying the nonprofit organization and the specific program, project, event, activity, service, equipment, materials, or supplies for which the grant shall be used; now, therefore, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE COUNTY OF HAWAI‘I that Contingency Relief funds from Council District 2 will be appropriated to the Office of the Prosecuting Attorney to provide a grant to YWCA of Hawai‘i Island for its 14th Annual Walk a Mile in Her Shoes event. BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Council of the County of Hawai‘i hereby transfers/appropriates the following amount as set forth below: FUND: General       AMOUNT OF APPROPRIATION:  $2,500       OUT AND FROM:    010.101.5101.91 Clerk-Council SVC – Contingency Relief $2,500      CREDITED TO:    010.271.5271.02 Office of the Prosecuting Attorney $2,500   Prosecuting Atty OCE    115 Misc. Contract Services    (YWCA of Hawai‘i Island – 14th Annual Walk a Mile in Her Shoes)    BE IT FINALLY RESOLVED that the County Clerk shall transmit a copy of this resolution to the Prosecuting Attorney and Director of Finance, and that the Director of Finance is hereby authorized to make the necessary transfers in accordance with the terms of this resolution.
