The agreement is to provide grant funding to the Office of the Prosecuting Attorney based on the financial obligation of matching funds by the County of Hawaii over the course of two years. The Office of the Prosecuting Attorney requests that this resolution be waived from the Finance Committee and be placed on the October 18, 2023 Council agenda in order to expedite receipt of funds. LEE LOY REBECCA VILLEGAS RE: Resolution No. 308-23 RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE MAYOR TO ENTER INTO A MULTI-YEAR AGREEMENT WITH THE STATE OF HAWAII DEPARTMENT OF THE ATTORNEY GENERAL Pursuant to Section 2(g) of Rule 4 of the Rules of Procedure of the Council of the County of Hawaii, this written request is submitted with my approval that the above -referenced matter be waived from the Committee on Finance to the full Council for immediate action. In reviewing this matter, timely approval is crucial. It is therefore advantageous that approval is granted and the matter be placed onto the next Council agenda for review. REQUEST: DEPARTMENT OF FINANCE REQUEST FOR COUNCIL ACTION Prosecuting Attorney DATE Grant Naaata 09/21/23 PHONE: 934-3310 A resolution authorizing the Mayor to enter into a multi year grant contract with the State of Hawaii, Department of the Attorney General totaling $443,371 for FY24 and $93,371 for FY25, with in-kind match requirements of $110,843 in FY24 and $23,343 in FY25. In order to expedite the receipt of this grant we request to waive Finance Committee. B. BACKGROUND AND JUSTIFICATION (USE ADDITIONAL SHEETS AS NEEDED): Funds have been provided by the State for our Aid to Victims (Victim/Witness Program) for FY24 and FY25. The Victim Witness Program provides assistance and support services to the victims and witnesses through our Victim Assistance Unit.
