This grant will be used for community engagement and communication plans for the County of Hawai`i's sustainability and climate action programs and the Aloha+ Challenge. I Enclosed is a resolution authorizing the Department of Research and Development to provide $75,000 to the Hawaii Local2030 Hub, pursuant to Hawaii County Code (2016 Edition as amended) Chapter 2, Article 25, Section 2-139(a)(3)(A). REQUEST: 9618366 A Resolution is requested authorizing the County (via the Department of Research and Development) to provide a grant to the Hawaii Loca12030 Hub in the amount of $75,000.00 to provide community engagement and communication plans for the County's sustainability and climate action programs, and the Aloha+ Challenge. A Request to Waive the Finance Committee and 5 -Day Holdover due to time constraints is also requested. B. BACKGROUND AND JUSTIFICATION (USE ADDITIONAL SHEETS AS NEEDED): Background: The County has developed a public - private partnership with the Hawaii Green Growth and Hawaii Loca12030 Hub over the past 10 years which resulted in the launch of the Aloha Plus Challenge and dashboard. In addition, shared priorities were developed around transparency on tracking progress toward sustainability goals and building community trust. Justification: The Department of R&D requires added capacity in outreach and engagement around the Aloha Plus Challenge and Sustainable Development Dashboard to expand Hawaii County's sustainability and climate action efforts for better data tracking and community participation.
