In the current Budget Ordinance 23-50, $451,928 is appropriated in the Career Criminal
Prosecution Program account. Additional funds in the amount of $94,240 are being
provided by the State of Hawaii Department of the Attorney General to be used by the
Office of the Prosecuting Attorney to pursue prosecution of career criminals.
Enclosed is a bill for an ordinance amending the Operating Budget by appropriating these
additional funds into the Office of the Prosecuting Attorney's Career Criminal
Prosecution Program account, bringing the total appropriation to $546,168.

Request to amend Ordinance 23-50, County Operating Budget for fiscal year ending June 30, 2024.
Increase the revenue and appropriation in the Career Criminal Prosecution (CCP) Program account by
$94,240.

B. BACKGROUND AND JUSTIFICATION (USE ADDITIONAL SHEETS AS NEEDED):
Additional funds have been provided by the State for our Career Criminal Prosecution Program and will pay
for salaries for staff salaries. The Career Criminal Prosecution Program continues to identify and vigorously
pursue prosecution of career criminals, and focus on violent felons to be incarcerated for extended terms
for the protection of the community.
