J�tYfOF H,k <br />COUNTY OF HAWAII `* STATE OF HAWAII <br />7� OFNh� <br />RESOLUTION NO.� <br />A RESOLUTION TRANSFERRING/APPROPRIATING AN APPROPRIATION OUT <br />AND FROM A DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT AND CREDITING SAME TO A <br />DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT TO PROVIDE A GRANT TO M. ALAMA O PUNA TO <br />ASSIST WITH FUNDING YOUTH ENGAGEMENT EVENTS FOR KEA`AU MIDDLE <br />SCHOOL IN THE 2023-2024 SCHOOL YEAR. <br />WHEREAS, Malama O Pima is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization whose mission is to <br />provide community resources to maintain a safe and healthy community through environmental <br />education, hands-on projects, advocacy, watchdogging, and land trusting; and <br />WHEREAS, the Kea`au Middle Parent Teacher Student Association (Kea`au Middle <br />PISA) promotes the collaboration and engagement of families and educators and advocates for <br />the students' education and well-being; and <br />WHEREAS, the Kea`au Middle PTSA and Kea`au Middle School are coordinating <br />youth engagement events in the 2023-2024 school year that include the Halloween Haunt, school <br />Winter Dance, post -Christmas parade Hot Chocolate Gathering, College Career Readiness, and <br />8th grade commencement; and <br />WHEREAS, Malama O Puna supports youth engagement events that foster a sense of <br />community and enhance the social and emotional well-being of students from the Puna region; <br />and <br />WHEREAS, as the fiscal sponsor for these youth engagement events, Malama O Puna is <br />requesting fiends to cover expenses that include, but are not limited to, event decorations and <br />supplies, paper products, Halloween candy and glow sticks, deejay fee, and refreshments; and <br />WHEREAS, the Department of Liquor Control supports drug-free and alcohol -free <br />events that enrich the lives of community members; and <br />WHEREAS, pursuant to Section 2-139(a)(2)(A) of the Hawaii County Code, <br />Contingency Relief funds shall be transferred to an accepting County department/agency via <br />resolution identifying the nonprofit organization and the specific program, project, event, <br />activity, service, equipment, materials, or supplies for which the grant shall be used; now, <br />therefore, <br />BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE COUNTY OF HAWAII that <br />Contingency Relief funds from Council District 4 will be appropriated to the Department of <br />Liquor Control to provide a grant to Malama O Puna to assist with funding youth engagement <br />events for Kea`au Middle School in the 2023-2024 school year. <br />
