No. 479/Res. No. 281-23 <br />Your Committee on Finance, to which was referred Resolution No. 281-23, reports as follows: <br />Resolution No. 281-23, transmitted by Finance Director Deanna S. Sako, via Communication No. 479 <br />dated September 15, 2023, authorizes the payment of funds of a later fiscal year and of more than one <br />fiscal year for a multi-year lease for one landfill bulldozer for the Department of Environmental <br />Management. <br />This resolution authorizes the Mayor to enter into a five-year lease agreement at an approximate <br />monthly cost of $21,667 to replace equipment that has reached its end of life. <br />Committee Member Heather Kimball asked Environmental Management Director Ramzi Mansour to <br />provide some background on this measure. Mr. Mansour gave a quick presentation on this resolution <br />and Resolution No. 282-23. <br />Committee Member Holeka Goro Inaba asked about the maintenance and lifespan of the heavy <br />equipment. Mr. Mansour replied that the equipment they plan to replace is about 20 -years -old and that <br />the department intends to better maintain these new items for a potentially longer lifespan. <br />Committee Member Ashley L. Kierkiewicz offered comments of support and thanked Mr. Mansour <br />for his presentation. <br />Committee Member Cindy Member Evans asked Mr. Mansour to explain the lease agreement, to which <br />Mr. Mansour explained that this is a lease -to -own contract and that the lease is intended to break up a <br />massive payment into smaller payments over five years. <br />Committee Chair Matt Kaneali`i-Kleinfelder thanked Mr. Mansour for providing the lease details and <br />said he appreciated all the information he provided regarding this measure. <br />FC Report No. 80 <br />
