COMMITTEE ON FINANCE
Re: Comm. No. 489/Bill No. 80
Your Committee on Finance, to which was referred Bill No. 80, reports as follows:
Bill No. 80, transmitted by Finance Director Deanna S. Sako via Communication No. 489 dated
September 15, 2023, amends Ordinance No. 23-51, as amended, relating to public improvements and
financing thereof for the fiscal year July 1, 2023 to June 30, 2024.
This bill adds the Public Works Bridge Repair Projects — Honoli`i and Kaiwilahilahi Streams —Federal
project ($6 million) to the Capital Budget. Funds for this project shall be provided from Federal Grants
Receivable to rehabilitate the integrity of these bridges.
Committee Member Michelle Galimba asked Public Works Director Steve Pause where these bridges
were located. Mr. Pause stated that these bridges were located in the Hamakua district and provided a
detailed overview of this measure.
Committee Member Heather Kimball mentioned that these bridges are in Papa`aloa and thanked
Mr. Pause for being there.
Your Committee on Finance is in accord with the purpose and intent of Bill No. 80, and recommends
its passage on first reading.
