RESOLUTION NO. 8 2 3
A RESOLUTION TRANSFERRING/APPROPRIATING AN APPROPRIATION OUT
AND FROM A DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT AND CREDITING SAME TO A
DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT TO PROVIDE A GRANT TO HAMkKUA HEALTH
CENTER, INC., FOR LADIES NIGHT OUT, A BREAST CANCER AWARENESS
EVENT IN HONOKA'A.
WHEREAS, Hdmdkua Health Center, Inc. (HHC), a 5 01 (c)(3) nonprofit organization,
provides quality healthcare that is responsive to the needs of its patients and the community; and
WHEREAS, HHC is coordinating Ladies Night Out, a breast cancer awareness event for
all ladies 16 years and older, which will be held on November 3, 2023, in the gymnasium at the
Honoka'a Sports Complex; and
WHEREAS, the goal of the event is to promote health and wellness through free health
screenings, massages, beauty treatments, informational booths, refreshments, and entertainment;
and
WHEREAS, HHC is requesting funds to help defray the costs for health screening tests,
event insurance, refreshments, musician fees, and supplies for the Ladies Night Out event; and
WHEREAS, one of the goals of the Department of Parks and Recreation is to provide
events and activities that address the needs and interests of our diverse communities; and
WHEREAS, pursuant to Section 2-139(a)(2)(A) of the Hawaii County Code,
Contingency Relief funds shall be transferred to an accepting County department/agency via
resolution identifying the nonprofit organization and the specific program, project, event,
activity, service, equipment, materials, or supplies for which the grant shall be used; now,
therefore,
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE COUNTY OF HAWAII that
Contingency Relief funds from Council District I will be appropriated to the Department of
Parks and Recreation to provide a grant to Hdmakua Health Center, Inc., for Ladies Night Out, a
breast cancer awareness event in Honoka'a.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Council of the County of Hawaii hereby
transfers/appropriates the following amount as set forth below:

BE IT FINALLY RESOLVED that the County Clerk shall transmit a copy of this
resolution to the Director of Parks and Recreation and Director of Finance, and that the Director
of Finance is hereby authorized to make the necessary transfers in accordance with the terms of
this resolution.
