RESOLUTION NO.
A RESOLUTION TRANSFERRING/APPROPRIATING AN APPROPRIATION OUT
AND FROM A DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT AND CREDITING SAME TO A
DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT TO PROVIDE A GRANT TO THE KONA TASK
FORCE ON FEEDING THE HUNGRY TO ASSIST WITH EXPENSES RELATED TO
ITS MEET AND EAT PROGRAM.
WHEREAS, the Kona Task Force on Feeding the Hungry is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit
organization that provides food to the low-income and homeless population of Hawaii County;
and
WHEREAS, for over 31 years, the Kona Task Force on Feeding the Hungry has provided
weekly hot meals to those less fortunate through its Meet and Eat program; and
WHEREAS, many families in Kona continuously struggle with severe financial hardship,
and the Meet and Eat program provides free grab -and -go meals to those in need every Tuesday at
6:00-6:30 p.m.at Kealakehe Intermediate School; and
WHEREAS, the Kona Task Force on Feeding the Hungry is requesting funds to help pay
for produce, protein, and supplies related to the preparation and distribution of meals; and
WHEREAS, the Department of Liquor Control supports alcohol- and drug-free programs
and activities that promote the betterment of the community; and
WHEREAS, pursuant to Section 2-139(a)(2)(A) of the Hawaii County Code,
Contingency Relief funds shall be transferred to an accepting County department/agency via
resolution identifying the nonprofit organization and the specific program, project, event, activity,
service, equipment, materials, or supplies for which the grant shall be used; now, therefore,
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE COUNTY OF HAWAII that
Contingency Relief funds from Council District 8 will be appropriated to the Department of
Liquor Control to provide a grant to the Kona Task Force on Feeding the Hungry to assist with
expenses related to its Meet and Eat program.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Council of the County of Hawaii hereby
transfers/appropriates the following amount as set forth below:

BE IT FINALLY RESOLVED that the County Clerk shall transmit a copy of this
resolution to the Director of Liquor Control and Director of Finance, and that the Director of
Finance is hereby authorized to make the necessary transfers in accordance with the terms of this
resolution.
