J�ZVeOF H,� <br />COUNTY OF HAWAVIA F HAWAIJ <br />�r N� M? • '. <br />1r'F•tlF �NF'� <br />RESOLUTION NO. n <br />A RESOLUTION TRANSFERRING/APPROPRIATING AN APPROPRIATION OUT <br />AND FROM A DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT AND CREDITING THE SAME TO A <br />DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT TO PROVIDE A GRANT TO FRIENDS OF THE <br />FUTURE TO ASSIST WITH EXPENSES RELATED TO THE NORTH KOHALA TOOL <br />LIBRARY. <br />WHEREAS, tool libraries have the potential to improve community resilience, save <br />community members money and storage space, become a hub for education and community <br />building, contribute to economic and environmental security, and provide other community <br />benefits; and <br />WHEREAS, since its opening in 2022, the North Kohala Tool Library has over $15,000 <br />worth of tool donations in its inventory that are available for rental or borrowing by community <br />members at little or no cost; and <br />WHEREAS, Friends of the Future is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization working in <br />partnership with the organizers of the North Kohala Tool Library to build community capacity <br />by providing library members with affordable and convenient access to tools and equipment as <br />well as opportunities to learn new skills; and <br />WHEREAS, Friends of the Future is requesting funding assistance to help with venue <br />rental costs and tool purchases for the North Kohala Tool Library; and <br />WHEREAS, the Department of Liquor Control supports this project as it is in keeping <br />with the goals and objectives of the department to support organizations that keep our <br />communities safe and strong through drug- and alcohol -free projects and services; and <br />WHEREAS, pursuant to Section 2-139(a)(2)(A) of the Hawaii County Code, <br />Contingency Relief funds shall be transferred to an accepting County department/agency via <br />resolution identifying the nonprofit organization and the specific program, project, event, activity, <br />service, equipment, materials, or supplies for which the grant shall be used; now, therefore, <br />BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE COUNTY OF HAWAII that <br />Contingency Relief funds from Council District 9 will be appropriated to the Department of <br />Liquor Control to provide a grant to Friends of the Future to assist with expenses related to the <br />North Kohala Tool Library. <br />BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Council of the County of Hawaii hereby <br />transfers/appropriates the following amount as set forth below: <br />
