My name is Josh Keyes and I live on Uhini Ana Rd ( Road 1) in Hawaiian Acres. I am very pleased to see this bill 82 come up for a vote. I feel our situation here in Hawaiian Acres is a perfect candidate for road repairs, meeting all necessary requirements. The communities well-being would be greatly enhanced with repairs to our existing road. Uhini Ana Rd is the main entry road for our neighborhood serving a very large community that is poised to grow over the coming years. This important road has fallen into extreme disrepair. It has become a hazard to the hundreds of residents that use it everyday. Emergency vehicles can take up to fifteen or twenty minutes longer than they should to get to the residents in need. I fear that someone in need of time sensitive medical care will not get it in time, as a consequence to our deteriorating road. Large vehicles such as fire trucks have to travel very slowly to prevent damaging them. It is not safe to continue with the road the way it is, and it's only going to get worse as time and erosion destroy what's left of it. Very few people in our community walk or bicycle along the road because there is no shoulder or sidewalk of any kind. I believe more people would walk and use bicycles if the road was in better condition. This road is open to all public access without restriction and hosts all manner of delivery trucks, school busses and tour vans along with all utility vehicles needed to services the people who use them. We have made attempts to repair our road using donations from the community, unfortunately with the economic struggles many of our residents face we cannot raise enough money to properly repair this vital road for the community.
