V5 From: James Traxler Sent: Thursday, September 28, 2023 3:01 PM To: Council Testimony Subject: Testimony in support of Resolution 277, ref: World War II Memorial at WHVC This testimony is on behalf of the Veterans Organizations in West Hawaii Island. The West Hawaii Veterans Cemetery Development and Expansion Association (WHVCDEA) ,501 c, is developing, designing and executing this project. All of our Veterans Organizations have members providing in kind and monetary contributions in support of this project. This project is scheduled for completion by May, 2024. This will complete the planned Memorials for the WHVC, except for the War on Terror Memorial which is a State funded Project to be completed in the next couple of years. The Memorial will be located on the North side of the Committal Shelter. This is clearly the most consequential war in the last 100 years. We are committed to address the War in both the Pacific and European Theaters and at the same time focus on our Hawaiian contributions such as Pearl Harbor, the 442 Regimental Combat team, the 100th Battalion, and the significance of Camp Tarawa. Thanks for your support. Jim Traxler, Vice President of the WHVCDEA and Chairman of the World War II Memorial Project. co Comm. No."S.1 Ref. To: T Ref. Date's
