Aloha Madame Chair and members of the Policy Committee on Planning, Land Use, and Development,
I attended a presentation given by the presenter, Mike Ewall, and at each I learned important new lessons and
ideas about both truly renewable energy and ways to reduce and manage the waste streams we create.
I urge the County Council to implement the following:
1) ban the burning of biomass or waste in the county in incinerators or via pyrolysis, gasification, or other
"waste to fuels" or "waste to energy" technologies
2) ban the importation of incinerator ash of other waste from out -of -county.
3) Don't waste our clean energy on making hydrogen. It wastes 50-80% of it to convert to hydrogen and
back. Use wind and solar directly to decrease the use of oil for electricity.
