Jt -4 Of M�Y <br />COUNTY OF HAWAII STATE OF HAWAII <br />TE•OF N' <br />RESOLUTION NO. 335 23 <br />A RESOLUTION TRANSFERRING/APPROPRIATING AN APPROPRIATION OUT <br />AND FROM A DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT AND CREDITING THE SAME TO A <br />DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT TO PROVIDE A GRANT TO `EWALU INC. FOR <br />REIMBURSEMENT OF EXPENSES RELATED TO ITS DIGITAL LITERACY <br />CLASSES FOR SENIORS. <br />WHEREAS, `Ewalu Inc. is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization dedicated to providing <br />computer access and basic computer literacy classes to help improve the quality of life for senior <br />residents and to advance digital equity on Hawaii Island; and <br />WHEREAS, the digital literacy classes were held October 23-24, 2023, and covered <br />basic computer functions and navigation, such as the internet, e-mail, video conferencing, online <br />security, and safe browsing techniques; and <br />WHEREAS, `Ewalu Inc. received approval from the Department of Parks and Recreation <br />to conduct its digital literacy classes at the Lily Yoshimatsu Senior Center in Waimea and the <br />North Kohala Senior Center in Kapa`au; and <br />WHEREAS, `Ewalu Inc. is requesting a reimbursement for the purchase of refurbished <br />computers used by class participants and air travel expenses for the instructors; and <br />WHEREAS, the Department of Parks and Recreation supports this project as it is in <br />keeping with the goals and objectives of the department to provide and/or facilitate a wide array <br />of recreational opportunities and services that meet the needs of the Hawaii Island community; <br />and <br />WHEREAS, pursuant to Section 2-139(a)(2)(A) of the Hawaii County Code, <br />Contingency Relief funds shall be transferred to an accepting County department/agency via <br />resolution identifying the nonprofit organization and the specific program, project, event, <br />activity, service, equipment, materials, or supplies for which the grant shall be used; now, <br />therefore, <br />BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE COUNTY OF HAWAII that <br />Contingency Relief funds from Council District 9 will be appropriated to the Department of <br />Parks and Recreation to provide a grant to `Ewalu Inc. for reimbursement of expenses related to <br />its digital literacy classes for seniors. <br />BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Council of the County of Hawaii hereby <br />transfers/appropriates the following amount as set forth below: <br />
