Re: Comm. No. 525/Bill No. 91
Your Committee on Finance, to which was referred Bill No. 91, reports as follows:
Bill No. 91, transmitted by Finance Director Deanna S. Sako via Communication No. 525 dated
September 29, 2023, amends Ordinance No. 23-50, as amended, the Operating Budget for the County
of Hawaii for the fiscal year ending June 30, 2024.
This bill increases revenues in the State Grants — Victim/Witness Assistance account ($344,199); and
appropriates the same to the Aid to Victims account, for a total appropriation of $443,371 to support
the Prosecuting Attorney Office's Victim -Witness Assistance Program.
Committee Member Cindy Evans asked Finance Director Deanna Sako if she could provide
specific details regarding this measure or if she should reach out to the Prosecuting Attorney's
office directly. Ms. Sako provided some background on this measure but encouraged Ms. Evans
to speak directly with someone from the department.
Your Committee on Finance is in accord with the purpose and intent of Bill No. 91, and recommends
its passage on first reading.
