RESOLUTION NO.
RESOLUTION CREATING ONE (1) NEW GRANT COORDINATOR POSITION, ONE (1) NEW PUBLIC SAFETY COUNSELOR POSITION AND ONE (1) NEW HUMAN RESOURCES SPECIALIST II POSITION FOR THE POLICE DEPARTMENT
WHEREAS, the Police Department is in need of a Grant Coordinator position, a Public Safety Counselor position and a Human Resources Specialist II position to support the Department
and its employees; and
WHEREAS, the Grant Coordinator position is needed to assist the department in directly identifying and evaluating potential funding sources that can used towards County programs; and
WHEREAS, the Public Safety Counselor position is necessary to provide support to department employees and their families so employees are able to perform their jobs safely and effectively;
and
WHEREAS, the Human Resources Specialist II position is needed to adequately service the expanding department; and
WHEREAS, the positions indicated above are one (1) Grant Coordinator, SR-24, one (1) Public Safety Counselor, SR-26, and one (1) Human Resources Specialist II, SR-22; and
WHEREAS, Article V, Section 5-1.3(c) of the Hawai‘i County Charter states that the Mayor has the power to “Create positions...for which appropriations have been made by the council...”;
now, therefore,
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE COUNTY OF HAWAI‘I that one (1) Grant Coordinator, SR-24, position, one (1) Public Safety Counselor position, SR-26, and one (1) Human Resources Specialist
II, SR-22, position be created in the Police Department.
BE IT FINALLY RESOLVED that a copy of this resolution be transmitted to the Office of Management, Department of Finance, Police Department and Department of Human Resources.
