Kimball, Chair <br />And Members of the Hawaii County Council <br />FROM: Dr. Holeka Goro Inaba, Council Member <br />Council District 8 <br />OJjice:(808)323-4280 <br />Email: holeka.inabalahawaiicounty.gov <br />SUBJECT: Reports attendance of Council Members at the 2023 West Hawaii Disability <br />County Council Legislative Form on October 19, 2023 at Maka'eo Pavilion. <br />In accordance with FIRS §92-2.5(e), I am reporting the attendance of Council Members <br />Rebecca Villegas, Cindy Evans, Heather Kimball and myself at the 2023 West Hawaii <br />Disability County Council Legislative Forum on October 19, 2023 at the Maka'eo Pavilion. <br />Issues discussed at this meeting included the following: <br />• Transportation accessibility, barriers, and unreliability that limits interaction with <br />Hawaii Island transportation. <br />• Shortage of affordable and accessible housing and other initiatives surrounding housing <br />for individuals with developmental disabilities. <br />• Emergency Preparedness and how individuals with developmental disabilities can be at <br />the table with HIEMA to ensure representation during emergencies. <br />• Increasing beach access for those with limited mobility. <br />I IRS Section 92-2.5(e) provides that two or more members of a board, but less than a quorum, <br />may attend an informational meeting or presentation on matters relating to official board <br />business; including a meeting of another entity, legislative hearing, convention, seminar, or <br />community meeting; provided that the meeting or presentation is not specifically and exclusively <br />organized for or directed toward members of the board. The section further provides that at the <br />next duly noticed meeting of the board, the board members shall report their attendance and the <br />matters presented and discussed that related to official board business. <br />Please place this communication on the next available council agenda.
