4�'J ��ilJii�•, <br /> COUNTY OF HAWAII •_ `.-, '/:• STATE OF HAWAI`I <br /> RESOLUTION NO. 350 23 <br /> A RESOLUTION TRANSFERRING/APPROPRIATING AN APPROPRIATION OUT <br /> AND FROM A DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT AND CREDITING SAME TO A <br /> DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT TO PROVIDE A GRANT TO THE HAWAI`I ISLAND <br /> HIV/AIDS FOUNDATION FOR EXPENSES RELATED TO HEALTH EDUCATION, <br /> TESTING, AND COMMUNITY OUTREACH. <br /> WHEREAS, the Hawai`i Island HIV/AIDS Foundation (HIHAF), doing business as <br /> Kumukahi Health and Wellness, is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization whose mission is to provide <br /> a safe space for all underserved communities on Hawai`i Island, especially those affected and <br /> living with HIV/AIDS (human immunodeficiency virus and acquired immunodeficiency <br /> syndrome) and similar health disparities; and <br /> WHEREAS, HIHAF is the only HIV/AIDS service organization in Hawai`i County with <br /> over 35 years of experience in providing health education, testing, and community outreach to <br /> those populations with higher rates of infection, suicide, and overdose; and <br /> WHEREAS, HIHAF is requesting funds to purchase medical supplies for testing, social <br /> media and radio ads, event space rental fees, and promotional materials;and <br /> WHEREAS, one of the goals of the Department of Research and Development is to <br /> promote partnerships between the County and community organizations and leaders to support <br /> the health, well-being, and quality of life for Hawai`i Island residents; and <br /> WHEREAS, pursuant to Section 2-139(a)(2)(A) of the Hawai`i County Code, <br /> Contingency Relief funds shall be transferred to an accepting County department/agency via <br /> resolution identifying the nonprofit organization and the specific program, project, event, <br /> activity, service, equipment, materials, or supplies for which the grant shall be used; now, <br /> therefore, <br /> BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE COUNTY OF HAWAI`I that <br /> Contingency Relief funds from Council District 7 will be appropriated to the Department of <br /> Research and Development to provide a grant to the Hawai`i Island HIV/AIDS Foundation for <br /> expenses related to health education,testing, and community outreach. <br /> BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Council of the County of Hawai`i hereby <br /> transfers/appropriates the following amount as set forth below: <br />
