dNtY Of N,. <br /> COUNTY OF HAWAI`I �'-'- '/ � STATE OF HAWAII <br /> •f71. <br /> 1 <br /> OF Wt.' <br /> RESOLUTION NO. 351 23 <br /> A RESOLUTION TRANSFERRING/APPROPRIATING AN APPROPRIATION OUT <br /> AND FROM A DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT AND CREDITING SAME TO A <br /> DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT TO PROVIDE A GRANT TO THE ZONTA CLUB OF <br /> HILO FOUNDATION TO ASSIST WITH EXPENSES RELATED TO ITS "AMELIA <br /> EARHART GIRLS IN ENGINEERING DAY" EVENT. <br /> WHEREAS, the Zonta Club of Hilo Foundation is a 501(c)(3)nonprofit organization <br /> whose mission is to empower women and girls through public service and advocacy; and <br /> WHEREAS, the Zonta Club of Hilo Foundation sponsors an annual "Amelia Earhart <br /> Girls in Engineering Day" event for 40 girls, and their parents, from various East Hawai`i public <br /> schools; and <br /> WHEREAS, this free event will be held in early 2024 and is designed to inspire girls in <br /> fourth through eighth grade to pursue science, technology, engineering, and math(STEM) <br /> education by providing them with engaging discussions, interactive experiences, and guidance <br /> from local STEM professionals who can act as mentors; and <br /> WHEREAS, the Zonta Club of Hilo Foundation is requesting funds to purchase <br /> refreshments,promotional items, and supplies for STEM workshop activities for its "Amelia <br /> Earhart Girls in Engineering Day" event; and <br /> WHEREAS, the Committee on the Status of Women, which is supported by the Office <br /> of the Prosecuting Attorney, is tasked with improving the status and well-being of women and <br /> girls, working towards gender equality, which is parallel to the mission of the Zonta Club of <br /> Hilo Foundation; and <br /> WHEREAS,pursuant to Section 2-139(a)(2)(A) of the Hawai`i County Code, <br /> Contingency Relief funds shall be transferred to an accepting County department/agency via <br /> resolution identifying the nonprofit organization and the specific program, project, event, activity, <br /> service, equipment, materials, or supplies for which the grant shall be used; now, therefore, <br /> BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE COUNTY OF HAWAII that <br /> Contingency Relief funds from Council District 4 will be appropriated to the Office of the <br /> Prosecuting Attorney to provide a grant to the Zonta Club of Hilo Foundation to assist with <br /> expenses relating to its "Amelia Earhart Girls in Engineering Day" event. <br /> BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Council of the County of Hawai`i hereby <br /> transfers/appropriates the following amount as set forth below: <br />
