A RESOLUTION TRANSFERRING/APPROPRIATING AN APPROPRIATION OUT AND FROM A DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT AND CREDITING SAME TO A DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT TO PROVIDE A GRANT TO THE SANCTUARY OF
MĀNĀ KEʻA GARDENS FOR EXPENSES RELATED TO ITS WELLNESS THROUGH AGRICULTURE MANIFESTIVAL.
WHEREAS, Sanctuary of Mānā Keʻa Garden is 501 (c)(3) nonprofit organization whose mission is to offer educational and purposeful options for self and global renewal through connection
of sustainability and spirituality, and provides information to promote healthy and vibrant vegan lifestyles; and
WHEREAS, Sanctuary of Mānā Keʻa Gardens is hosting its Wellness Through Agriculture Manifestival, a free agricultural festival for the West Hawai‘i community to provide education in
organic agriculture, sustainability, zero-waste, conscious living, and Hawaiian culture, which will also include animal rescue and welfare activities; and
WHEREAS, Sanctuary of Mānā Keʻa Gardens is requesting funds to assist with expenses for facility rental and supplies and materials related to its Wellness Through Agriculture Manifestival,
which will be held on December 2, 2023, at the Hale Hālāwai; and
WHEREAS, one of the goals of the Department of Parks and Recreation is to promote, perpetuate, and encourage activities and programs in culture, art history, and humanities; and
WHEREAS, pursuant to Section 2-139(a)(2)(A) of the Hawai‘i County Code, Contingency Relief funds shall be transferred to an accepting County department/agency via resolution identifying
the nonprofit organization and the specific program, project, event, activity, service, equipment, materials, or supplies for which the grant shall be used; now, therefore,
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE COUNTY OF HAWAI‘I that Contingency Relief funds from Council District 7 will be appropriated to the Department of Parks and Recreation to provide
a grant to Sanctuary of Mānā Keʻa Gardens to assist with expenses related to its Wellness Through Agriculture Manifestival.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Council of the County of Hawai‘i hereby transfers/appropriates the following amount as set forth below:
