Additionally, I write in support of Resolution 333-23 to increase funding for the Hawai'i Fire Deparment to proactively mitigate potential impacts of wildfires. As to Resolution 330-23, the County has met with the DLNR, UH, SHPD, OHA, and all stakeholders over the course of the past three (3) plus years regarding the same. It is imperative that the State, UH, and private land owners provide protection and preservation of our Iwi Kupuna in their respective areas. Funding for a Preservation Plan needs support from DLNR, OHA, UH, and private land owners to ensure protection and preservation of our Iwi Kupuna, (and all cultural sites) is realized. Both the State and OHA receive geothermal royalties, which Puna provides as the host community. These funds should be utilized to support the protection of our Iwi Kupuna. Thank you in advance for your kind consideration. Sincerely, Ku'ulei Kealoha Cooper, Trustee James & Miulan Kealoha Estate Comm. No Ref. To: Ref. Date CT 3 1 [...'
