Subject: Testimony in support of the North Kohala Tool Library
Dear Hawaii County Council Members,
I am writing to express my support of the North Kohala Tool Library (NKTL). I have watched and encouraged as NKTL went from
a lofty idea to now a brick and mortar space full of useful tools for the community to borrow. This took hours of work,
coordination, learning, and above all dedication and tenacity. This valuable community resource has already been utilized by
many residents and its membership will only grow as word spreads. Besides the obvious benefits of having a library of tools to
borrow in our rural community, far from Kona and Hilo, NKTL also provides a space where volunteers gather to share their
skills and expertise with each other and the community and it has been a beautiful exchange to witness. Your support of this
project will go further than simply allowing access to tools, but will have the ripple effect of empowering residents to learn
new skills while creating and strengthening the fabric of our North Kohala community.
