h!!!!! <br /> COUNTY OF HAWAI I • `-'- �1 • STATE OF HAWAI`I <br /> � : , <br /> • <br /> • <br /> RESOLUTION NO. 357 23 <br /> A RESOLUTION TRANSFERRING/APPROPRIATING AN APPROPRIATION OUT <br /> AND FROM A DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT AND CREDITING SAME TO A <br /> DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT TO PROVIDE A GRANT TO MALAMA 0 PUNA <br /> FOR EXPENSES RELATED TO THE MAINTENANCE AND BEAUTIFICATION OF <br /> THE RENE SIRACUSA PAHOA ROUNDABOUT. <br /> WHEREAS, Malama 0 Puna is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization whose mission is to <br /> provide community resources to maintain a safe and healthy community through environmental <br /> education, hands-on projects, advocacy, watchdogging, and land trusting; and <br /> WHEREAS, Malama 0 Puna honors the enduring legacy of its former Executive <br /> Director, Rene Siracusa, by coordinating donations and organizing community-driven <br /> beautification efforts for the Pahoa roundabout named after her; and <br /> WHEREAS,the State Department of Transportation has fulfilled Malama 0 Puna's <br /> request to fill in the roundabout's three splinter islands, which has improved aesthetics, increased <br /> safety, and reduced long-term maintenance needs; and <br /> WHEREAS, the ongoing preservation of the Rene Siracusa Pahoa Roundabout relies on <br /> dedicated community partners and volunteers for consistent maintenance and stewardship; and <br /> WHEREAS, Malama 0 Puna is requesting funds for landscaping equipment, contract <br /> hire for mowing, ground cover plants, signage, refreshments for volunteers, and gardening tools <br /> and supplies necessary for the ongoing maintenance and beautification of the Rene Siracusa <br /> Pahoa Roundabout; and <br /> WHEREAS, the Department of Liquor Control supports community-based programs that <br /> promote education, health, and well-being in drug-free, alcohol-free venues; and <br /> WHEREAS, pursuant to Section 2-139(a)(2)(A) of the Hawai`i County Code, <br /> Contingency Relief funds shall be transferred to an accepting County department/agency via <br /> resolution identifying the nonprofit organization and the specific program,project, event, activity, <br /> service, equipment, materials, or supplies for which the grant shall be used; now, therefore, <br /> BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE COUNTY OF HAWAI`I that <br /> Contingency Relief funds from Council District 4 will be appropriated to the Department of <br /> Liquor Control to provide a grant to Malama 0 Puna to assist with expenses related to the <br /> maintenance and beautification of the Rene Siracusa Pahoa Roundabout. <br /> BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Council of the County of Hawaii hereby <br /> transfers/appropriates the following amount as set forth below: <br />
